Why You Should Get A Dog

Spending time with canine companions does wonders for your well being. A large amount of research supports the idea that owning a dog is good for you physically and emotionally. Dogs make us happier, healthier, and help us cope with a crisis - and can even help you get a date!

Dogs for better physical health
Dog ownership can enhance physical health and longevity. Studies from 1950-2019 indicate lower mortality rates among dog owners, attributed to reduced blood pressure and stress responses. The human-dog bond mitigates stress, a key cardiovascular risk. Dogs, particularly therapy dogs, alleviate anxiety and stress. Simple actions like petting a dog can lower blood pressure, heart rate, and induce relaxation.

Dogs to increase your attraction
Having a dog can enhance your appeal. Studies show that dogs make individuals seem more likable and attractive. Men with dogs are more likely to get a woman’s number. People in photos with dogs appear happier and more relaxed. Including a dog in profile photos increases right swipes, benefiting women more.

Dogs to increase your sociability
Walking with a dog makes us approachable and aids in starting conversations, fostering new friendships. Dogs help reduce agitation in dementia patients and improve social interactions. They provide unconditional love and support, especially during tough times. They also offer comfort during grief. The care we give to dogs is reciprocated, as confirmed by science. Plus, the walks add up.

Dogs to enhance happiness
Dogs’ “infant schema” facial features trigger a caregiver response in humans. Their big eyes and floppy ears are scientifically appealing. Staring into a dog’s eyes raises your oxytocin level, boosting your mood. Owning a dog also has general health benefits. They also aid in psychological recovery during crises. For instance, in a study conduced by Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine service dogs have been found to significantly reduce PTSD symptoms and improve coping skills among military veterans.

And.. Dogs for a better companion
Dogs offer love, emotional support, and help reduce loneliness. They are beneficial during difficult times and can enrich your life. However, before getting one, consider your lifestyle, living conditions, and the resources needed for pet care. Choose a breed that suits your preferences and lifestyle.

Dogs are just plain great! But not everyone should have a dog. Please plan kn what you’ll do with the dog when you go on vacation, how many hours a day you can spend with it etc.and adopt a dog that will fit your lifestyle.

Please be aware, having a dog is not all sunshine and rainbow. Some times they will be annoying but you are still required to take care of them. Can't just leave them alone for hours. Yes dogs are wonderful but they are a responsibility as well! Happy day!
